Let's celebrate Animal Crossing Lunar New Year 2022 event

First of all, I wish all Chinese people a happy new year.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is once again celebrating the Lunar New Year with unique events and limited-edition items. While Nintendo confirmed that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will no longer be getting huge upgrades or new DLC packs, the Lunar New Year event suggests fans can look forward to such events and upcoming festivals to spice up the game's gameplay. In fact, the Lunar New Year event has been updated since last year, allowing players to earn rare items and new dialogue.

For those unfamiliar with the holiday, it marks the beginning of the New Year on the Chinese lunar calendar, which is also used by many other East Asian countries. Unlike the Gregorian calendar, which has 365 days, the Lunar calendar is based on the Moon's 29-day cycle and therefore lasts 354 days. That's why Animal Crossing: New Horizons players celebrated the Lunar New Year on February 12th last year, but it's February 1st this year. However, the year doesn't just reset on this day. The same goes for the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese Zodiac is not the same as the Zodiac in Animal Crossing Star Shards, it consists of 12 animals that cycle through to reflect the year, with the Tiger representing the New Year's animal.

New Year items can include money

Three limited-time items have been added to the seasonal section of the Nook Stop store in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to commemorate the Lunar New Year. The Bokjumeoni blessed pouch, the lucky red envelope, and the Lunar New Year adornment are the three items . Each of these items may be acquired for a reasonable price, making the event accessible to players at any stage of the game.

Unfortunately, aside from its stunning look, the Lunar New Year decoration has no special properties of its own. Nonetheless, the exclusivity of these three items makes them worthwhile purchases. The Bokjumeoni fortunate pouch, the lucky red envelope, and the Lunar New Year decoration all expire on February 6, so gamers who want to get them should do so before then.

Zodiac Items are available all year

Chinese Zodiac items return to Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Lunar New Year. In honor of the Year of the Tiger, Zodiac Tiger figurines are on sale at the Nook Stop shopping area in Animal Crossing: New Horizons throughout January. However, starting in February, players will no longer be able to buy it, leaving many who missed out on wondering how they can get it.

Other Lunar New Year Items

During Lunar New Year, Animal Crossing also celebrates other holidays and cultural events. The game features more limited-time items in the seasonal section of the Nook Store.
