Recently, a music trailer about Path of Exile 2 has been released. The developer did not reveal the exact release date, but it is said that a Beta phase of Path of Exile 2 will be released at late 2020 and the offical version will be available in 2021.
Path of Exile 2 will introduce a completely brand-new campaign storyline, consisting of seven acts, and an overhaul of many of the game's core systems. The endgame is shared with the base game, but there are a ton of changes to systems, visuals, classes, and more. For example, the skill gem system will be drastically changed, removing gem sockets from equipment and moving them to active skill gems instead. Other additions include a major visual rework with physics-based rendering, and an unannounced rework of the passive skill tree, and 19 new Ascendancy classes.
