New to Asylum Life? Start by learning the Patient side of the facility, earning Credits safely and understanding how Staff control works. Then move into weapons and escape routes.
Quick Start
Start as a Patient, learn the Patient Area, mop spills or talk to Mitch for Credits, and locate the Patient Shop before spending heavily. Once you understand the layout, try Orderly or Medical to learn how Staff operate.
Checked for September 2026. The official August 28, 2026 update added a new Medical sub-team, Laser Pistol changes and quality-of-life updates.

What Is Asylum Life?
Asylum Life is a Roblox facility roleplay game where Patients can cause chaos, earn Credits and attempt to escape, while Orderlies protect Staff and arrest disruptive Patients. Medical focuses on support and healing, while EPU and Facility Director provide more advanced roles.
The official Roblox page confirms that Patients can mop spills or talk to Mitch to get Credits. It also supports PC, mobile and console, with Voice Chat strongly recommended.
Which Team Should a Beginner Choose?
| Team | Main Role | Beginner Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Patient | Explore, earn Credits, use contraband, escape | Best first team |
| Orderly | Patrol, control hostile Patients, arrest | Good after learning Patient routes |
| Medical | Healing, support and procedures | Good for support-focused players |
| EPU | Advanced security and combat | Learn Staff combat first |
| Facility Director | High-access command | Better for experienced players |
Current team documentation shows major sub-team progression milestones every 25 levels for the core progression teams.
What to Do in Your First 30 Minutes
- 1. Start as Patient.
Use your first life to explore instead of immediately starting a fight.
- 2. Find the Patient Shop and main corridors.
Learn where gear comes from before planning a breakout.
- 3. Mop spills and locate Mitch.
Both are confirmed Patient Credit sources on the official game page.
- 4. Watch Staff behavior.
Learn patrol areas, restricted doors and common chase routes.
- 5. Learn one weapon and one utility tool.
Glass Shard teaches basic Patient combat; Crowbar teaches why vent access matters.
- 6. Prepare before escaping.
Keycards, vents and Staff access are more important than simply buying the strongest weapon.
Credits vs XP
| Resource | Used For | Beginner Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Credits | Shop gear and utility | Earn safely before expensive purchases |
| XP | Team levels and sub-team progression | Build steadily while learning the role |
| Boosts | Temporary progression acceleration | Use while actively playing |
Beginner Weapons to Learn
Glass Shard
25 documented damage and a 2,500 Credit Patient Shop price.
Crowbar
15 damage, but its real value is allowing Patients to use vents.
Stunstick
A basic Staff stun weapon that teaches the arrest loop.
Taser
Downs normal Patients instantly; Brute Patients are slowed instead.

When Should You Try Your First Escape?
Try escaping after you can recognize restricted doors, Staff patrol areas and at least one vent route. A successful breakout is primarily a navigation and access challenge.

What team should I play first?
Patient is the easiest starting point for learning Credits, contraband and escape mechanics.

The official game page specifically lists mopping spills and talking to Mitch.
Should I buy a weapon first?
Not always. For escape-focused play, a Crowbar, keycard or disguise may be more useful than pure damage.
