The latest Steal a Brainrot rebirth gear vote shows Grief Guard far ahead of Retreat Portal and Decoy Beacon.
This week, Steal a Brainrot developer Sammy (@SpyderSammy) posted a poll in the Discord community featuring three possible new rebirth gear items: Retreat Portal, Decoy Beacon, and Grief Guard. Players will decide which one gets added to the game.
Latest Vote Results
So far, 29,105 players have voted, and the poll will close in 12 hours.
| Gear Name | Votes | Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| Grief Guard | 16,309 | 56% |
| Retreat Portal | 8,788 | 30% |
| Decoy Beacon | 4,008 | 14% |
The vote count is still changing, let’s take a look at each item.
Grief Guard
Grief Guard gives you one extra protection when you’re attacked. It creates a protective bubble around you that blocks one attack before breaking. However, the original Brainrot owner can still attack you, which means their attacks are not blocked by the bubble.
Its biggest advantage is it can block one attack from a third-party player, giving you more time and space to escape. This makes Grief Guard especially useful in crowded multiplayer servers.
Retreat Portal
Retreat Portal lets you quickly escape danger and return straight to your base. Normally, when you steal a Brainrot and carry it back to your base, other players can attack you along the way. Retreat Portal lets you instantly create distance from pursuers, reducing the risk of getting hit.
Even if you’ve already been attacked and are in a ragdoll state, you can still use it to skip the ragdoll time and teleport directly back to your base. This makes it a useful item when stealing high-value Brainrots.
Decoy Beacon
Unlike the two items above, Decoy Beacon doesn’t provide direct protection. Instead, it draws the fire of automated defensive gear, such as Heatseekers, Sentries, and Attack Doges, allowing the Beacon to take the damage for you for a certain amount of time. This can be especially useful when trying to steal Brainrots from heavily defended bases, as it can create a safe window for you to make your move.
Quick Comparison
| Item | Main Function | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Retreat Portal | Teleports you back to your base | Emergency escapes and avoiding pursuit |
| Grief Guard | Absorbs one hit | Protection from player interference |
| Decoy Beacon | Redirects automated Gear | Bypassing automated defenses |
Possible Winner: Grief Guard
Grief Guard is the most likely new Rebirth Gear to be added to the game. Compared with Retreat Portal and Decoy Beacon, it can be useful in a wider range of situations. As long as you get attacked, it can do its job.
In Steal a Brainrot, the most dangerous moment is when you’re carrying a Brainrot back to your base. Besides the original owner, other players can also attack you. Grief Guard gives you one extra chance to survive and escape.
It also doesn’t require any complicated game skills. You don’t have to worry about when to use a teleport or where to place a Beacon to draw enemy fire. Retreat Portal can instantly send you back to your base, but not every theft requires an instant escape. Decoy Beacon is mainly useful when the enemy has auto-targeting defenses.
Grief Guard doesn’t have these extra requirements. If you need it, just use it.
What Is Rebirth Gear?

| Possible New Gear | Closest Existing Gear | Similarity | Key Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Retreat Portal | Flash Teleport | ★★★★☆ | Flash Teleport is designed for short-distance teleportation, while Retreat Portal can take you straight back to base. |
| Grief Guard | Base Shield / Defensive Mechanics | ☆☆☆☆☆ | Grief Guard directly protects the player carrying a Brainrot by absorbing one hit. |
| Decoy Beacon | Quantum Cloner | ★★★★☆ | Uses a decoy to redirect automated Gear instead of creating a player clone. |
The table also shows there is currently no Rebirth Gear with a function similar to Grief Guard. This explain why it is getting the most support from players—it solves the problem of being interrupted by other players while stealing a Brainrot.
