How to Get Pet Mutations — Grow a Garden 2 Pets Tier List (2026)

Pets' Functions
In Grow a Garden 2, pets are indispensable companions, following you and providing various passive bonuses. Each pet possesses unique abilities, broadly categorized as follows:
- Economic Boosters: Increase the rate at which Sheckles are earned by increasing crop mutation rates, accelerating crop growth, and increasing seed drops.
- Defensive Pets: Protect your garden from theft at night, such as freezing intruders and reversing their control.
- Thief Pets: Actively steal fruit from other players' gardens, such as raccoons.
- Support Pets: Provide movement speed, jump height, and increased night vision.
Note: Players can equip a maximum of 5 pets simultaneously (pet slots must be upgraded).

Pet Mutations
Pet mutations refer to special variants that differ from standard pets in appearance and abilities. The most notable are Big & Mega Pets—larger variants of pets that can occupy an entire garden, with doubled pet skills. However, they are only occasionally obtained by hatching pet eggs, with an extremely low probability.

Checking the game's official badge data reveals that 250,329 players currently own Big Pets, while only 5,450 own Mega Pets. The game has been online for over a week, with over 400,000 players online at any given time. This near-zero probability makes acquiring them seem incredibly daunting.

Acquisition Methods
1. Map Spawns
This is the primary acquisition method. Pets will randomly appear in the central area of the map. Each pet will display a price and a countdown timer above its head; you need to purchase it with Sheckles before the countdown ends.
2. Hatching Eggs
Players can place eggs in their garden to hatch. Currently, only Common Eggs and Epic Eggs are available. Common Eggs can only be obtained from guild rewards, while the acquisition method for Epic Eggs is currently unknown.
3. Guild Rewards
The top-tier Ice Serpent pet can only be obtained through guild activities—a reward for the top 100 guilds. There's also a mutated version of Ice Serpent.
4. Shop Purchase
Grow a Garden 2 Shop always offers a wide variety of pets, including mutated versions, at affordable prices and easy to use. Players who need them can go directly to the shop to purchase.
